Together with Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation (DRWF), we have been working together for a number of years through our shared belief that collaboration and sharing knowledge is key to better patient outcomes. We do this by raising awareness of how technology and education together can positively impact management of diabetes amongst healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patients.
We therefore decided to take part in the Portsmouth Dragon Boat Festival to raise money for more in-depth research, regional diabetes wellness days and better patient education to improve the lives of those living with the condition. Our co-branded team formed the ‘Diabetes Diamonds’, a play on words for our adult diabetes patient management software and DRWF’s name.
The event on 13th May, organised by Portsmouth & Southsea Rotary Club, a service organisation who bring local businesses and leaders together to provide charitable occasions and goodwill to the community, enabled us to work towards our shared goal of working together to help the diabetes network and enhance self-care.
Jon Elburn, our Clinical Information Systems Product Manager provided his thoughts about the day, “we are delighted to continue our association with DRWF who work tirelessly to raise much needed funds to carry on their work in establishing a cure for diabetes and help those living with the condition to live healthier lives. The Dragon Boat Festival was a great way to be active, have fun and work as a team, all in the name of an extremely good cause.”
Sarah Tutton, DRWF’s Chief Executive added, “as we share the aim of helping those with diabetes live well whilst working together to one day finding a cure, taking part in the boat race enabled us to continue progressing towards this and to raise awareness about the impact diabetes has on everyday life.”
Our Diabetes Diamonds team managed to raise over £1,200 for DRWF but it’s not too late to donate, just visit the JustGiving page here.
